Dr. Oralia Dominic
President and Founder; National Institute of Rural & Minority Health (NIRMH)

Dr. Oralia Garcia Dominic is the President and Founder of the National Institute of Rural & Minority Health (NIRMH). Dr. Dominic is an award-winning NIH fellow, PHS-funded Cancer Researcher, Behavioral Scientist, and Healthcare Executive with progressive experience in leading multidisciplinary teams, interventions, national-level projects, and first-of-its-kind reporting systems/toolkit development/new technology and coverage with evidence (CED) determination medical policies.  Her expertise is solving complex problems, with data-driven, evidence-based, multisite, multicomponent, multidisciplinary strategies and CBPR frameworks, and scalable business solutions aimed at achieving the best outcome. 

 

Dr. Dominic has an enriched background in SDOH/Health Disparities research and innovation, quality assurance, and human-centered innovation modelling for disease-risk reduction interventions. Stellar record of reducing disease burden and health disparities by analyzing behavioral factors on chronic disease and evaluating community/clinic-based approaches. Recognized among public health officials and medical stakeholders for eliminating roadblocks that marginalize underserved communities. Instrumental in resolving issues across complex multicomponent frameworks and integrated delivery systems. Adept at creating evidence-based, scalable solutions intersecting within the Research-Education-Patient-Payer-Provider-Regulatory platform and space to improve health outcomes. Notable success in earning PHS grant awards for health disparities research and publishing extensively in peer-reviewed journals. Solid history of improving SOP, NT/CED policies to capture new technologies improving patient outcomes, cost-savings, provider- and health system-level capacities, and ROI.

 

Dr. Dominic received her B.S in Biology (UTSA), M.S. in Nutrition (UIW), M.S. in Multidisciplinary Studies (UIW), M.S. in Biobehavioral Health (PSU), and PhD in Biobehavioral Health (PSU), and completed two post-docs one in Epidemiology (PHS COM), and the second in Health Services Research (PHS COM).
