Director of Development
Responsible for assisting with the implementation of all fund-raising and community relations activities for the BVSPCA/Humane Society of Harrisburg (HSHA), especially major gifts, sponsorships, and planned giving.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
· Works with the Chief Executive Officer, Chief Advancement Officer, management, staff, and volunteers to implement strategic plan and support the BVSPCA/HSHA’s mission and programs through resource development
· Develop major gifts program in the Harrisburg area to focus on growing strategic relationships with key community stakeholders
· Coordinate with Chief Executive Officer and Chief Advancement Officer to ensure successful requests to donors and prospects
including local jurisdictional funders and other large donors
· Develop a strategy to acquire and manage corporate accounts, leveraging funds and networks to further expand the mission of the organization
· Develops and implements fundraising plans with Chief Advancement Officer to meet annual and long-term revenue goals
· Develop donor base and build relations with new donors
· Working with Director of Marketing & Outreach to leverage the media to achieve attendance and participation goals in campaigns and events
· Collaborate with the Director of Marketing & Outreach and/or Director of Community Engagement to promote services that focus on community resource programs, volunteerism, youth involvement, and education
· Research and secure networking/public speaking opportunities to garner additional awareness for the organization/initiative, solicit support and partnerships, or recruit volunteers
· Plan and execute annual signature events to meet revenue goals
· Plan, oversee, and manage revenue-generating special events
· Secure sponsorships, plan printed program and speakers, and manage the logistical aspects of event
· Establish a Development Committee to optimize fundraising results
· Maintain clear, complete, and current donor data records regarding contributions, grants and prospects including acknowledgements, receipts, and proposals
· Ensure ongoing integrity of donor database through regular updates, reports, quality assurance of data entry, and reviews of all acknowledgement letters
· Ensure in-kind donation records are maintained and acknowledgments are produced
QUALIFICATIONS
· Excellent verbal and written skills as well as organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to be self-motivated and disciplined
· Experience in managing employees and/or volunteers
· Ability to work with wide diversity of individuals, including high level corporate executives and managers
· Experience using Bloomerang database or other comparable donor database software
· College degree, preferably in non-profit management or a related field such as marketing, communications, public relations, or business and a minimum of 5 years of proven successful experience in the area of fundraising and development
