Harrisburg Young Professionals (HYP) is seeking a dynamic and organized Part-Time Sports Coordinator to oversee our intramural sports leagues. This role is crucial in ensuring the smooth operation of our sports programs, fostering a fun and competitive environment, and enhancing the overall experience for our members.

Key Responsibilities:

• Program Management:
  • Oversee the planning, coordination, and execution of HYP’s intramural sports leagues.
  • Develop and manage league schedules, including regular season games, playoffs, and championship events.
  • Oversee the volunteer Sports Committee
  • Ensure all games are adequately staffed with referees, scorekeepers, and other necessary personnel.
  • Coordinate the registration process for participants, including managing online registration systems.
• Communication:
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for league participants, responding to inquiries and resolving issues.
  • Communicate league schedules, standings, weather delays, and updates to participants in a timely and effective manner.
  • Collaborate with HYP’s marketing team to promote leagues, recruit participants, and highlight key events.
• Logistics and Operations:
  • Secure and manage relationships with venues, ensuring facilities are available and in good condition for games.
  • Oversee the maintenance and inventory of sports equipment and supplies.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant health and safety regulations.
• Community Engagement:
  • Foster a positive and inclusive environment that encourages sportsmanship and camaraderie among participants.
  • Engage with the HYP community to gather feedback and continuously improve the sports program.

Qualifications:

• Previous experience in sports management, recreation, or a related field.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Familiarity with HYP’s mission and a passion for community engagement.
• Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as required by league schedules.

Working Conditions:

• This is a part-time position, requiring approximately 10 hours per week.
• The role may involve physical activity, including setting up, transporting, and taking down sports equipment.
