The Harrisburg Area Riverboat Society, Inc., is looking for an experienced, knowledgeable, customer-oriented captain for 

the Pride of the Susquehanna in Harrisburg, PA. 

The Pride of the Susquehanna is an authentic paddlewheel driven riverboat sailing on the Susquehanna River. We excel in area education, culture and fun on the river which has centuries of history. We host thousands of passengers annually with a goal of sending them away having experienced our area in a unique way. The Pride of the Susquehanna has been sailing for 37 years with many more to come. We are an established tourist attraction hosting guests from near and far. We have a strong reputation with the U.S. Coast Guard as a company who places the safety and security first through our well-maintained vessel and training of our crew. 

Job Description 

• This position will include captaining cruises and passenger relations. 

• Prior experience operating river oriented, 70’+ vessels preferred. 

• Must be an experienced passenger boat operator with ability to maneuver vessel in tight areas. 

• Ability to motivate and train crew. 

• Manage daily operations with consistency. 

• Must be a people person, friendly and professional. The Captain is one of the first people our customers see upon 

boarding! 

• Ensure our passengers have exemplary customer service as is our promise. 

• Ability to communicate effectively with our maintenance, operations staff, vendors/suppliers, and other entities we have 

direct/indirect relationships with. 

• Be available to work all shifts, including weekends and holidays. We operate from May through October with the bulk of 

our season running between Memorial Day and Labor Day seven days/week. 

Requirements 

• USCG 100 Ton license required. 

• At least one year of CURRENT experience on passenger vessels.
