This one is so very special to me!  This has been a vision of mine for sometime... and to see it come to life has been a blessing, a gift.  My heart is full with gratitude for our partnership with the amazing, experienced folks at Mason Dixon K9 who have opened their hearts and their facilities to make this happen!  

Throughout my work supporting first responders and military members and families in the clinic, through critical incident stress management, or through every day conversations, the reality is, it can often be more than just knowing where to go for help, or even wanting to get help.  

Often times, after the sacrifices and stressors they endure to help others, they are forced to make additional sacrifices at home, putting off taking care of themselves to prioritize their pets, their service animals, their retired working dogs are cared for.  The reality is, they would rather put off the treatment they need to be okay, because making sure their animal is okay is all that keeps them going.  

If we care about our Heroes, we owe it to care about the Heroes' heroes --- their 4-Footed Heroes.  Having adequate, trained, experienced support for their animals, while they seek their own support is CRITICAL.  

I am hopeful this program gives our Heroes the comfort and the space, for probably the first time in their lives, to focus on taking care of themselves.  To know their animal is cared for, loved, supported through their own unique needs, while they seek the treatment needed for their unique needs.

Let's continue to help the Heroes Unheard feel unheard no longer.  We take a huge step (4 huge doggie steps) together today!  Looking forward to all those who have been, and will be, a part of it!
