-Why do you support CREDC?
~ CREDC plays such a huge part in setting up our region for success and economic growth. There is so much work done behind the scenes, and for no direct compensation, that I feel it’s critical our local business must make it a priority to be financially supportive. I want to be one of the voices helping to educate our community on how CREDC can help every business in the region, whether directly or indirectly through community vitalization.
-Why did you become a board member?
~ LeTort was awarded the Small Business of the Year award in 2012. That was really my first in-depth exposure to the organization, its people, and the work being done. I then served on the Catalyst Awards committee for many years and was able to see, firsthand, how other businesses were getting such valuable support from the Chamber and CREDC and how vital the services were to our community. The more I learned, the more I wanted to learn and become involved.
-What do you like most about being a board member?
~ I absolutely love learning firsthand about all the ways that various groups, individuals, programs, etc. are working to advance our region. Those of us who have been here know that this is the perfect place to work, play, and live, but we need to keep working on the things that will drive economic development and keep the next generations wanting to be here as well. I love when we have special regional representatives coming to the board meetings to update us on all that is happening. And so much is always happening.
-What else would you like people to know about you?
~ I remember skipping school when I was in high school to go downtown to check out the newly opened Strawberry Square. It was so exciting to take my first big trip to the city and to visit this fancy new place. We have everything we need in this region and it’s a fantastic place to live, raise a family and enjoy the outdoors. I just hope we can continue to do what’s necessary to attract business and entice workforces to take advantage. That’s the role that CREDC plays.
