Danette Blank Retirement

Advancements and opportunities for the blind and visually impaired in South Central PA, fortunately, have been in steady hands for the past 23 years thanks to the leadership of Executive Director, Danette Blank. Danette took the helm of what was Tri-County Association for the Blind, overseeing Dauphin, Cumberland, and Perry Counties, on May 22, 2000.

She began her position with an introduction to a financial solvency crisis the agency was experiencing. She weathered this initial storm to keep Tri-County afloat. She created stability along the way, holding a capital campaign for the purchase and refurbishing of a larger building to better meet the needs of the organization. Plans for the new location included a Low Vision Rehab Center and an Eye Clinic, both offering extensive professional examinations for clients. Following the acceptance of Franklin County to the VROCP service area, Danette worked with the Board and employees to rename the organization: Vision Resources of Central Pennsylvania.

Danette has been a champion for hiring individuals with disabilities. She transitioned the agency into the digital age, social media, and the amazing new technologies available to the blind and visually impaired. She has accomplished and overseen great progress for Vision Resources, the community, and the grateful employees with disabilities she opened doors for. There is much to share about Danette’s VROCP career, but for now, it is with congratulations that the retirement of Danette Blank, Executive Director, is public knowledge and will take place in the coming fiscal year. Danette will remain active with the agency to assist with the transition of a new Executive Director. Her guidance has made a meaningful difference for countless individuals and she deserves to be honored for her dynamic and faithful dedication.
