First National Bank & Team Pennsylvania to Highlight Trends in Manufacturing at The Manufacturers’ Association’s Annual Economic Forecast


(York, PA) - Thomas Neal, Director of Interest Rate Management, First National Bank and Abby Smith, President & CEO, Team Pennsylvania Foundation, will be the keynote speakers highlighting manufacturing trends at the Association’s Economic Forecast on March 12, 2024. The Forecast will take place at the Association’s Center of Excellence for Apprenticeship and Training, 3405 Board Road, Suite 100, in York.


The Manufacturers’ Association’s yearly economic forecast outlines trends in manufacturing and business activity in the current economy and is designed for business owners, CFOs, senior accounting, banking management, and community leaders. The keynote address will be presented by Thomas Neal, Director of Interest Rate Management, F.N.B., based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Prior to joining FNB, Thomas spent 15 years with the Derivative Products Group at PNC Bank. Before that, Tom was an aerospace engineer in Baltimore, MD. He is a graduate of Pennsylvania State University with a degree in Mechanical Engineering and received his MBA from Carnegie Mellon University.


The second presenter, Abby Smith, President & CEO, Team Pennsylvania Foundation, will give a briefing on Pennsylvania’s competitiveness and the role of manufacturing in our regional economy. Abby’s 20-year career includes high-level strategic planning and leading cross-sector industry collaboratives at the state level in Pennsylvania as well as in several other states, along with ample experience as a grant and project manager overseeing multi-million-dollar projects and serving on various state-level councils. Abby earned her undergraduate degree from Yale University and master’s degrees in teaching from The Johns Hopkins University and in public policy and management from Carnegie Mellon University.


“Manufacturing is the economic driver for central Pennsylvania – the region’s largest economic sector employing over 121,000 in 2,500 manufacturing enterprises across the Susquehanna Valley,” stated Tom Palisin, the Association’s Executive Director. The Economic Forecast event is fortunate to have both Abby and Thomas as experts to speak with our business leaders about the state of regional economy.”
