The film, currently in the fundraising stage, aims to uncover the rich and largely untold story of Pennsylvania’s central role in the history of American whiskey.

Pennsylvania’s Pioneering Spirit will take viewers on a journey through time, from the earliest rye whiskey-making farmers and the Whiskey Rebellion to the modern-day distillers bringing the state’s whiskey heritage back to life. Featuring in-depth interviews with whiskey historians, writers, farmers, maltsters, and a passionate new generation of distillers, the film will explore how Pennsylvania’s rebellious, agricultural, and entrepreneurial spirit helped shape America’s whiskey identity.

“Most people know the story of Kentucky bourbon,” said Executive Producer Nate Kresge. “But many—including Pennsylvanians—don’t realize that the story of whiskey in the United States begins in the Keystone State. We want remedy that with our film.”

GK Visual, based in Harrisburg, PA, brings more than two decades of storytelling experience to the project. Known for their high-quality cinematography and compelling narrative style, the team is once again setting out to spotlight the people, places, and history that define Pennsylvania’s vibrant craft beverage scene.
