Macris Chocolates to Host Peter Rabbit Easter Egg Hunt Benefiting The Salvation Army Harrisburg

Storybook-inspired Easter celebration brings books, chocolate, and literacy
together for local families

MECHANICSBURG, PA (March 6, 2026) – Macris Chocolates and The Salvation Army Harrisburg are partnering this spring to inspire a love of reading while giving back to local children.

A third-generation family chocolate shop, Macris Chocolates will host its first-ever Peter Rabbit Easter Egg Hunt in partnership with The Salvation Army Harrisburg on Saturday, March 21, 2026, from 11 AM to 1 PM at its historic Stone House location, 6395 Carlisle Pike, Mechanicsburg, PA. Registration is required for this ticketed event at macrischocolates.com.

Designed for children ages 1–10, this family-friendly Easter event blends classic children’s literature, hands-on chocolate activities, and a community giveback to create meaningful spring memories rooted in storytelling.

“Macris Chocolates is a third-generation family business, and we love creating experiences families can enjoy together,” said Elena Macris, owner of Macris Chocolates. “The stories of Peter Rabbit have been cherished by children for more than a century, just like our chocolates have been part of family traditions for generations. This event brings those traditions together while also supporting literacy programs for local kids.”

Inspired by the timeless stories of Beatrix Potter, the event invites children and families to step into a storybook world featuring a story time, children’s book drive, an Easter egg hunt through “Mr. McGregor’s Garden,” and hands-on chocolate bar decorating.

A portion of event ticket sales and retail purchases during the event will benefit The Salvation Army Harrisburg’s children’s literacy programs, helping provide books and educational resources to children throughout the community.

As part of the event’s literacy mission, families are encouraged to donate gently used or new children’s books to support The Salvation Army Harrisburg’s youth education programs. The first 100 children who attend will receive a free new Easter-themed book to take home.

The event will also feature a Senior Blessing Card Station, where children can color Easter cards—one to keep and one to donate to seniors served by The Salvation Army Harrisburg.

A special Buy One, Bless One promotion will extend the spirit of giving beyond the event. Customers who spend $50 or more at Macris Chocolates can choose a small gift bag of chocolates to donate to seniors through The Salvation Army Harrisburg during Easter visits.

Tickets are $28 per child for children ages 1-10. Parents and grandparents attend free. Easter baskets will be provided for the hunt.
