How long have you been active with the Chamber and how long have you been a Chamber board member?
HRG has been active with the Chamber for a very long time. I have as well. I regularly attended the Local Government Relations Committee meetings before I became a board member.
What do you like most about being a board member?
Becoming a board member was important because it’s a way of giving back to the community. Sure, I like to promote HRG, but promoting the economic vitality of our entire region is just as important. It is all businesses collectively that make this area such a great place to live. Businesses are the engine that drives sustainability. They provide us with income, entertainment, and purpose. Being a Chamber Board member provides great satisfaction knowing that I am contributing in some small way to the future success of our region.
What do you think people should know about the Chamber?
People should really know what a great resource they have in the Chamber. Our Chamber isn’t just a social networking group, although, we do a great job at that as well. We truly are a promoter of business, helping to develop and sustain businesses of all shapes and sizes. The Chamber assists businesses with everything from advocacy with our elected officials, to learning opportunities, to assistance with funding, to workforce development, and community impacts. People should also realize what a great staff the Chamber has. While we have a full slate of quality board members, the staff are the ones that successfully implement initiatives on a day-to-day basis. They are truly business professionals that make an impact.
