McNees adds former Assistant US Attorney Stephen Cerutti to white collar and litigation team

HARRISBURG, Pa. (Jan. 6, 2026) – McNees Wallace & Nurick today announced the addition of former Assistant U.S. Attorney Stephen Cerutti to the firm’s White Collar Defense, Public Corruption & Investigations Group in Harrisburg.

Cerutti brings more than two decades of federal prosecutorial and investigative experience from the U.S. Department of Justice, further strengthening the firm’s capabilities in complex criminal, regulatory and appellate matters.

Cerutti helps public officials, business leaders and institutions through high-stakes corruption and regulatory investigations involving federal, state and local law enforcement and ethics committees.

Before joining McNees, Cerutti spent more than 25 years with the Department of Justice in Washington, D.C., and Harrisburg. He most recently served as an attorney advisor to the General Counsel for the DOJ's Office of the Inspector General, overseeing high-profile investigations and developing policies, programs and institutional resources to strengthen accountability. Prior to that, Cerutti spent over a decade as chief of criminal appeals for the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Harrisburg, managing the district’s criminal law practice before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit.

“Stephen’s federal background and his ability to handle complex, high-pressure matters make him an exceptional addition to our team,” said Sarah Hyser-Staub, chair of McNees’ White Collar Defense practice. “His experience and judgment will provide immediate value to our clients.”

Cerutti earned his J.D. from the University of Oregon School of Law and his bachelor's degree in public policy from Penn State University.
