SoMa Block Parties return for 2024
HARRISBURG, PA - Sara Bozich and Harristown Enterprises are excited to announce the return of the SoMa Block Party series for 2024! Back for a seventh year, the SoMa [South of Market] Block Party series showcases the South of Market, or SoMa, district in downtown Harrisburg.
The monthly outdoor event series kicks off on Thursday, May 23.
SoMa Block Parties take place on S. Third St., between Market and Chestnut Streets, in downtown Harrisburg. During the event, the street is open for pedestrian traffic, and the businesses along S. Third St. are open, including Found Collab, Boneshire Taproom at SOMA, Tamara Boutique, El Sol Mexican Restaurant, Subway, and JoJo’s Barbershop.
Each Block Party features a variety of vendors, including craft breweries and wineries, food trucks, a live band, non-alcoholic beverage vendors, yard games, and more fun.
Events are free to attend and are family- and dog-friendly! Guests simply pay-as-they-go.
New this year!
SoMa Block Party events are now one hour longer! All events now run 6-10 p.m. Parking is free in downtown Harrisburg after 5 p.m.
SB Events also is co-hosting a special 3rd in the Burg Juneteenth SoMa Block Party in partnership with Young Professionals of Color - Harrisburg and Harrisburg Young Professionals. This event takes place on Friday, June 21, and will run 5-9 p.m.

This season’s musical lineup features Funktion (May), Mark DeRose & the Dreadnaughts (June), Collinsville Discount Band (July), Cass and The Bailout Crew (August), and Little Brother Band (Sept.)

Harristown has invested over $20 million in the SoMa district over the past 20 years, which now includes Found Collab, Boneshire Taps @ SoMa, JoJo’s Barbershop, Tamara’s Boutique, El Sol Mexican Restaurant, Veterans Multi-Service Outreach offices, the Harrisburg Soniqs “LAN Gaming Center,” the Narҫisse Theatre Company, and more than 160 renovated apartments. In addition, the UPMC Health Sciences Tower at Harrisburg University’s $100 Million 11-story project is now complete. In the spring of 2024 Harristown completed a streetscape beautification project in SoMa including the addition of new bike racks, decorative bollards, brick inlay on the sidewalk, new planters, and the renovation of the former Walker’s advertising sign to “Welcome to SoMa.”
