Vista Autism Services has expanded its Adult Employment Services program to York County, bringing proven workforce development support to adults with autism and related developmental disabilities in the region.

The expansion adds York County to Vista's existing service area, which includes Dauphin, Cumberland, Lebanon, and Lancaster counties.

Vista's Adult Employment Services program helps adults with autism and developmental disabilities find and keep meaningful jobs in their communities. The program provides individualized support at every stage — from career exploration and job development to on-the-job coaching and long-term career guidance. All employment is competitive and integrated, meaning participants work alongside coworkers without disabilities in real community settings.

The program's outcomes speak for themselves. Across 159 active clients, Vista reports an overall employment rate of 84%. For clients served through the Office of Vocational Rehabilitation, 80% secure employment within three months. Clients supported through waiver funding see placement rates exceeding 92%.

"Every person we work with has real skills and something genuine to contribute," said MaryLou Winters, Manager of Adult Employment Services. "Expanding to York County means more adults in our region have access to the kind of support that actually works — not just a job, but a career path and a place where they belong."

Vista's employment team works directly with local employers to identify opportunities, explain workplace supports, and ensure both the employee and the employer have what they need to succeed.
